On 29 June 2026, the first meeting in the “AI at JU” series, titled “Let’s Get to Know Each Other,” took place at Collegium Novum. This event marked the beginning of the inaugural activities and a series of meetings, officially opened by the Director, Prof. Bartosz Zieliński. Among the attendees were, among others, the Rector of Jagiellonian University, Prof. Piotr Jedynak, as well as Vice-Rectors Prof. Wojciech Macyk and Prof. Bartosz Brożek.
On the occasion of International Lynx Day, researchers from the Jagiellonian University, in cooperation with the Babia Góra National Park and the Gorce National Park, present solutions based on artificial intelligence that support lynx monitoring. The analysis of camera trap images enables the identification of individual animals and provides better insight into their behavior, population size, and migration routes, contributing to more effective protection of the species in the Polish Carpathians.
On May 7–9, 2026, the Director of the Jagiellonian Center for Artificial Intelligence, Prof. Bartosz Zieliński, took part in the international conference Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (AIMed) 2026, held in Kraków and online.
Researchers from the Jagiellonian Centre for Artificial Intelligence (JCSI) and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at Jagiellonian University, in collaboration with scientists from the Max Planck Institute for Informatics, have developed a new method for explaining the operation of artificial intelligence models – DAVE.
